Jewelery comprises ornamental objects, usually made with
precious metals and gems, worn by people. Costume jewelry
is made of less valuable materials. However, jewelery can
be fashioned from almost any kind of material. Jewelry in
various forms has been worn by both genders in practically
every human culture, on every inhabited continent.

Many cultures place a very high value upon the jewelry they
own. It can be symbolic too such as wearing wedding rings
tells everyone your married, wearing a cross tell other
what religion you are. Jewelry is also associated with
power and wealth. Kings, queens, princes and princess, all
adorn themselves with crowns and tiaras loaded with
diamonds, rubies, emeralds and other precious stones. Other
common forms of jewelry are rings, earrings, bracelets,
anklets, cuff links, belly chains. Some kinds of jewelry is
worn to alert others of a medical condition.

Jewelry, especially when made with precious materials is
generally considered valuable and desirable. Common metals
used for jewelry include gold, silver and platinum.
Gemstones typically used in jewelry include diamonds,
rubies, emeralds, sapphires and opals. Other common
materials for jewelry include glass (such as fused glass or
enamel), wood, which is often carved, shells and other
natural animal substances such as ivory and bone, and
natural clay and plasticine clays. Beads are also widely
used in jewelry. They can be made out of many different
substances, including glass, gemstones, shells, clay, and
wood. Beaded jewelry encompasses bracelets, earrings,
necklaces and belts. Fish scales are an example of
uncommonly used materials.

Some designers like to mix metals and some jewelry is made
from a cheaper grade of metal and then lightly coated with
a more expensive one. Many people only want the best when
it comes to their jewelry, and others don't care just as
long as is sparkly. Younger people in their twenties and
even those still in high school can pretty much set a fad,
so to speak. They like to cover themselves with many kinds
of jewelry, such as layering bracelets, rings on every
finger and a couple on their toes as well as two or three
pairs of earrings. It used to be some kind of bad thing if
a person wore silver earrings and gold rings or bracelets.
Today its mix and match for everyone, if you got it, wear
it.

It used to be some kind of jewelry crime to wear gold and
silver jewelry together but today its okay to wear silver
earrings and gold rings. No matter what your preference,
you should wear you jewelry as you wish. To accessorize the
outfit your wearing, or wear it to show it off, there
really are no set rules anymore, if you've got it flaunt it
and get it noticed.
